Teaching Approach
Teaching and mentorship are central to my academic work. I view effective teaching as an integral part of scholarly practice and aim to combine analytical rigor with accessibility and inclusiveness in the classroom.
My teaching is guided by three core principles: exposing students to economics at the frontier of research and practice, engaging diverse learning styles, and continuously refining course design and instruction to meet student needs. I design courses that integrate theory with real-world economic and policy contexts, using structured lesson plans, varied assessment methods, and data-driven examples.
A key objective of my teaching is to help students develop the ability to think critically and independently, rather than focusing solely on technical problem-solving. I emphasize clarity, predictability in course structure, and active engagement through discussion and open-ended questions. Accessibility is also central to my approach, supported through regular office hours and timely communication.
Since joining the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), I have taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and have consistently received above-average student evaluations. I actively engage in pedagogical development, contribute to curriculum design and program review, and supervise Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) students.
